BMW 2002 Turbo 1/24 in Silver

Hi,

While still working on my E30 M3 DTM (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul....php?t=1152067), I started another kit at the same time, BMW 2002 Turbo 1/24 from Hasegawa. I think this kit is really nice even though it doesn't have much details on the interior door panels, and it doesn't have an engine. I am building this straight out of the box. The only accessory I used is bare metal foil on the window trims, which it's my first time using it.

The reason I chose silver for the exterior, is because I don't have an air brush, color options are limited to what Tamiya rattle cans have to offer. I wasn't able to find off white that's not too ivory color, so I played it safe and chose silver TS-76 Mica Silver. I think I like the result so far.

I have been working on this on and off for about 2 months, it should be done pretty soon I hope. Here are some photos of the finished parts.

Front view without the turbo bumper.

Rear view without the rear bumper.

Front quarter view without the turbo bumper.

Top side view, see the window trims are done using bare metal foil. I don't think I did a good job, but acceptable for me.

Sanded with polishing clothes 8000 and 6000 gits, tamiya polishes, then wax.

Front view with turbo bumper, seal between the front and the bumper has not painted yet.

Front quarter view with the bumper on.

Here is the finished chassis.

Interior is all black.

Tapped drops of clear on the gauges to simulate glasses over them.

Wheels are done in a slightly darker shade of silver. It seems to be too dark to be acurate, but oh well, it's too late. Center cap decals were a bit tricky to put on because they are so small.

Here is a family photo of the finished parts so far.

The body is absolutely beautifully down. This is from a rattle can? Even more impressive!
Plus I love the early bimmers.

Thanks. Yes, rattle cans for the exterior and clear ts13. There was orange peel after the clear, but sanding and polishing made it smooth.

Paint, wash and pics are just a work of art.

Very nice work!

What color/brand did you use for the interior?

Thanks. For the interior, it’s just TS-29 semigloss black from tamiya.

Re: BMW 2002 Turbo 1/24 in Silver

I just completed the model, but haven't had time to take any photos yet. Here are few updated WIP photos I took few weeks ago.

Windshield with painted sun visors (tamiya ts-29) and rear view mirror.

Rear spoiler installed.

Fender flares installed, hand painted seals around the fenders, which could be done better.

More completed photos soon. Thanks for checking.
