I bought the 2nd as it was ALOT cheaper than the first, just the same as the 2nd WEST set I have. I'll keep them for a while before I sell them for a profit (hopefully)

Re: The Definitive McLaren F1 Scale Model List.
A rare WEST #8 sold on eBay today, for more than I paid for one of the WEST Autobarn sets
There was a question over whether it was a 'true' rare version, as the decals on the side seemed astray from other of the same model, and the box it was in didn't have the barcode and description on the bottom of it.

The real version of Minichamps has also such errors that I would prefer to buy a kit and let a builder do it much closer to one of the versions as the 03R raced with the West livery. Especially the front of the Minichamps is incorrect, having the early '95 season 7-hole-nose and the LM-style front lid air intakes. Only 05R has had the front as on that model recently. So for such a price and questions over its authenticity, not my thing. |

The Mincihamps FINA #8 1/43 which was on sale couple of days ago; I was interested but sametime very suspicious. I asked Greg and Doc about it and after reading their opinion; I forget it and try to find another. Imagine; I asked the saler two times; an English and German some details of that model; never got answer back. So really, if someone believes that he can do what he likes; that's very much wrong conclude! Fortuntaley here at this Forum; we have a true experts who really knows these things. Thanks Greg and Doc again.

Re: The Definitive McLaren F1 Scale Model List.
Are the Guiloy 1:18 cars worth getting? They don't look right to me..

Re: The Definitive McLaren F1 Scale Model List.
I bought the silver road car from Guiloy because it is the only diecast out there that looks like the Clinic Model. It has the foglamps, the 'eyebrow' vents over the headlights, the correct number of vents on the rear bumper, and also features the high mirrors. On the underside its even stamped "F1 Prototype".
The porportions are a little off (it's a little too long and flat), there's issues with the wheels (design and fitment), the engine is all wrong (disappointly bad), the two engine covers open together as a single piece, the front bonnet opens to an empty trunk, and the underfloor is open beneath the engine and gearbox, which is not correct either. I've seen their GTRs and wasn't impressed enough to buy one. The engine is a little more realistic to the BMW S70/2 V12, but still not great. They solved the engine cover problem, but that probably had more to do with the spoiler needing to go back there. My bigger issue is that most of them have some really wacky and totally unrealistic paint colors and graphics - like someone spent too much time in that one aisle at Pep Boys. There is one that looks the part of the LM, and could be a good UT F1 LM substitute if the budget doesn't allow for anything more. >8^) ER Last edited by Peloton25; 02-01-2010 at 08:32 PM. |

Re: The Definitive McLaren F1 Scale Model List.
Anyone know who makes the original Franck Muller. In the middle, Orange arc, Black front end. Different to the Le Mans cars. I just need that, a early 96 Sal Oppenheim car and a San Miguel car to complete my collection of ones I have designed.
I do have a West liveried 95 GTR , but alas, the rear wing is partly broken |

Re: The Definitive McLaren F1 Scale Model List.
Seems that AutoArt and HPI are bringing new F1 models to the markets in the near future. I found these images by checking Romu's 'report' from recent Nurnberg Toy Fair.
AutoArt More images of the AutoArt F1 at the end of the page: http://www.auto-und-modell.de/pages/...-2010-Autoart/ HPI Racing The Romu's whole report categorized by manufacturers can be viewed at: http://www.romu-romu.com/site/report/2010nur/top.html I have earlier seen somewhere else HPI's proto of the longtail GTR and images in the back that hinted to all the 1997 Le Mans versions in 1/43 scale. If I'm correct they should have detachable engine cover and the engine bay should be very detailed like their recent Le Mans 1998 Porsche 911 GT1 models.
