A rare kit I couldn't pass on

I didn't know this existed until I came across it. It seems it was made in 2001, 14 years old already. I bought it to build, but it will be a while before I can bring myself to crack this thing open, it's such a cool set.

If anyone knows more about this, I would love to hear about it.

I have never made opening doors before, so this will be a huge help

Re: A rare kit I couldn't pass on

That's a nice set indeed. Got one in my stash too :-)
It was released at a time when the Tamiya 956 wasn't available in stores.
It's the Tamiya kit plus etched and machined goodies and a reference picture CD of the ( restored ) 1983 LeMans winning car made by Scalemotorsports.
Later, when the Tamiya kit was available again, the CD was released individually and also a reduced set of etched parts.

Built this way back when it first came out. I was (and still am probably) a novice at photo-etch and had nothing more than some flat nose pliers and a couple of steel rulers. Study the parts very carefully as you really need to plan the progression of bends to avoid folding yourself into a corner.

Well, I found this last night after seeing this guy's WIP on F1M

I am pretty excited as this will be an incredibly detailed kit. I could have bought a MFH kit for the same or less probably, but this is more unique and I like it

Re: A rare kit I couldn't pass on

one of my favourite cars.
it took me a long time to get over the hoarding urge and to buy things to build, even if the thing is rare so it's good to see something else old and rare being built instead of hidden in a cupboard for "investment" (or something).

You do realize that he also has a extremely nice detail set for the engine as well don't you?? Would not want you to miss out on that if you are interested. If you look deeper into the thread on F1M you will see just how good it is. Good luck with your build!!

I bought it. I contacted him and I bought the wheel cover/brake set an the engine set. He also mentioned he is planning to release a dash and some other detail sets which I will wait for before starting this kit.

That's great news! I just bought the engine detail kit but I would love to get the one for the dashboard as well. Do you know when it is going to be released?
