Question Transmission Help

1993 Plymouth acclaim
2.5 SOHC Automatic
97,730 Miles

When im driving right around 20 mph the transmission slips to the next gear.

When i got the car the passing gear lever was stuck all the way over (Floored position) and i managed to get it loose with some wd-40 but now it slips when it changes gears at the 20 mph mark.

is there a way to adjust the transmission bands?

would changing the fluid and filter help?
