Just got the Hobby Design 20" BBS Wheels (now confirmed to be Hamann wheels)

They are nice, but are not even close to the standard Ferrari BBS. They do look close to the 599XX wheels, but I won't have time to check out. It comes with sets of female and male adapters to fit Fujimi, Aoshima and Tamiya spindles.

Here are a couple shots of these wheel/tires:

Some cleanup will be required, but they will work nice on selected kits. These might actually work well on the Revell 612 "Scag".

As far as I can see it looks pretty much like the wheels Hamann put on some of te cars they prepare.
Why did Hobby Design call these BBS wheels, is not clear to me.

Probably will look nice with some cleanup. Just wish someone would release the correct BBS style ones for the Ferrari 599. All the 599's you see in pictures seem to have them fitted.

They didn't per se. They called them Type B. From the picture in the online, it looked like BBS. So I called them BBS. I have seen BBS wheels that are somewhat similar. The box photo appeared similar to these BBS wheels:

I think these are the Hamann wheels you were referencing:

And there are similarities to both. However, these wouldn't work for the 599XX as there are too many spokes:

They've released 3 wheel sets, Type A, B and C. Type C appears Enkei like and Type A like an Audi or Mercedes McLaren type.

Anyway, this is certainly an option worth looking into for some cars. And, I still think the Ferrari 612 might look good with these. I have several wheel choices I'm considering for the 612 and I've added this to the option list.

Yeah, those are the ones.
IMO the Hobby design spokes look more like these than any other wheels, I might be wrong though.

Ferrari 599XX wheels are particular but look like those used on many "Le Mans" cars like 997 RSR

That is the Hamann logo on the center cap so I'd say that is what they are.

Hi,

IŽd suggest those BBS from Scale Production http://www.scaleproduction.de/index....23396d98ba659c, available with slicks or street tires, .... and btw, those BBS with "Y" as on the 599 are said to be available soon

These wheels look like pretty standard resin aftermarket items. They do not seem to justify the extortionate amount of money that HD want for them.

Agreed. I ordered a set to see if they were better. I think I'll stick to Aoshima wheels and some others. The Ferrari 599 HGTE wheels do look interesting as well. Wonder if they'll be reproduced.

Yes! So many people have requested the 20inch 599 BBS wheels that I'm surprised no aftermarket manufacturer has produced them yet.

Re: Just got the Hobby Design 20" BBS Wheels

Hi guys,

I missed this thread somehow. The cast looks a bit rough on those rims, but that might be due to the pics? I tried some 20" from the parts box last weekend on my 599...
