Speed controller

Does a speed controller work for a rotary tool, and which type of rotary tool, single speed or variable?

Thanks.

Re: Speed controller

For some of the less expensive and single speed models a speed controller, dimmer switch, or foot pedal can be used to control the rpms. But, on the more expensive models and/or the ones with digital controls and variable speed it is not advisable.

I've recently started using Dremel's Micro cordless moto tool. It is a bit expensive but it runs perfectly smooth, is compact like a fat marker, has very good battery life, is lightweight, and low torque. I highly recommend it.

I also have a Dremel 4400 with is great as well but is quite large.
