2013 malibu transmission

got a p0751 code and p0797 code. took the car to a transmission shop and he said he has to rebuild the whole transmuisionn . Instead of changing the the valve control body solenoids and tcm. He claimed its his experience. Should I trust him or go somewhere else?
I am pretty handy and have done a lot of car work myself. Is this something I can do myself?
How would i get the tcm programmed?

Re: 2013 malibu transmission

If you google both of these codes, they refer to solenoid control issues.. How does your guy justify a complete overhaul, mileage, burnt fluid? There is no tcm, this all handled by the pcm, getting at the solnoid pack is more complicated on a fwd car. Try another shop or the dealer
