97 Taurus Error Code 302 Injector?
My wife came back with my 97 wagon 3.0l with the engine running rough. Complained of a Burning Rubber Smell, & Flashing Check Engine Light which later stayed illumintated. The Code read 302 (#2 Misfire) & I cleared the code. (Code did not come back but engine is still missing). The Spark plug was wet but the Ignition system seems to be functuning OK. I suspect the the Fuel injector may be stuck open but I am reluctant to take apart the top of the engine just to check out the injector. Any Ideas?

How many miles on the tune up? If it has been a while and they are not Motorcraft parts, I suggest a tune up first. Wires and plugs will wear out.

Re: 97 Taurus Error Code 302 Injector?
it definetly sounds like a stuck injector. tap on it a few times. this will hopefully free it up. run the engine with the fuel injector disconnected to clear out that cylinder. before you go wasting money on purchasing an injector (there not cheap) try this test first. a great way to determine if the injector is bad is swap it to another cylinder and if the error code moves to that cylinder then you replace that injector.

Problem Solved - In an attempt to eliminate as many possibilities before disassembly of the top of the engine, I changed the Electronic Iginition Coil (Swap from my 95 Windstar) and the problem followed the Module to the Van. Apparently the Center Coil of this 3 Coil device was not firing properly. I noticed when clamping a timing light to the #2 Spark Wire, there seemed to be a Slightly Irregular Flash. Thanks to the people who posted suggestions. JMAS
