Re: Recap of the English F1 fleet - Take 2...

Excerpt from the McLaren P1 feature article in the November 2012 issue of Wheels Magazine Australia:-

Few people know that during the F1's development, with money extremely tight and the entire project in jeopardy, Beatle George Harrison paid for his F1 almost two years in advance, writing a cheque for 540,000 pounds (then $1.3m) to keep the program alive. "You buy my new records, don't you?" he asked his friend Gordon Murray. "Well, I want to buy your car."

I've heard over the weekend that it was coming here. Fairly confident in the source.

The article actually says the price exceeded £3.5M.

Uh...as in Orlando, FL where I live?! LOL. I hope so...maybe the owner will bring it to the Celebration car show this year when I'm there.

Edit: And if it does for sure leave the UK, maybe you guys will pick up another F1 if LM2 was bought by Lewis.

Some cars struggle more than others to clear the EPA hurdles. I do hope it surfaces sooner than later.

Re: Recap of the English F1 fleet - Take 2...

I think it is pretty easy to put the pieces together to determine #012's new owner.

If I am right it probably won't be long until everyone knows.

Re: Recap of the English F1 fleet - Take 2...

Obviously #012 in the center.

The silver ones are much harder. The one missing major body parts is most likely #070. The other one seems like it could be #046, but the little 'GB' sticker is missing from the rear bumper.

Can you make those images clickable thumbnails? If not, I can do it. (Done)

Yes, larger pictures please.

Speaking of new owners. Did we ever find out who bought 059 or where it's located?

Re: Recap of the English F1 fleet - Take 2...

Simon Kidston did the job !

I think he shared what he can shared. All F1 he saw this day are not on the pics...

#070 could have been sold ?

Re: Recap of the English F1 fleet - Take 2...

Perhaps its the photo / lighting, but it doesn't look like #070's interior.....seat colour is too dark [unless its in for a re-fit?...]

Re: Recap of the English F1 fleet - Take 2...

Well if it is #070 then someone has put the original coilovers back onto the car. Just a guess though based on what can be seen.

LMP Cars did appear to have the car for sale as recent as July 2010 and I don't recall seeing it surface since then. Could have ended up anywhere.
