Re: ZX2 Performance?
Thank you for that, but I place more faith in a AT than I do in a manual trans. They are more often than not stronger than a manual transmission and the torque multiplication is a godsend with a AT. That and its easier to work on torque converter for me.
As for borlas muffler, yes they only make a muffler, but thats enough to make some power differences on the car. All in all its a good low end car. And ZX2SRDOTNET, you need a leason in TACT. i have meet many people in my time who think they are gods, and I have proven them wrong manytimes over. I claim to be no uberman, but I do know a great many of things, one of which there is ALWAYS someon who knows more than you. So becareful how you word things, it sometimes makes you look small. Just a pearl of advice for you. |

Re: ZX2 Performance?
more faith in a at? hmm tranny that breaks at 115whp vs one that can take 140whp(lot more if you get a LSD) yeah thats great investment. ther are auto zx2's that run high 15's that if they were manual they would be in the 14's, and many of those auto's are on there 3rd or 4th tranny.
look at fords tranny rep, unless you have a mustang GT or a truck the auto tranny's are crap. and keep your pearl ive spent 4yrs learning this car i'm DAMN sure i know it |

Re: ZX2 Performance?
Its a ghetto term for replacing the intake with cold air intake and removing the catylitic converters for sound and power gains. But I could be wrong.

Re: ZX2 Performance?
Mark,
I found this source which seems to explain at least about the resinator and about cold air intakes. http://www.zx2racing.com/store/thumbnail.asp?cid=30 They did have this: http://www.zx2racing.com/store/close...d=108&offset=0 which "This unit replaces the power robbing 1.875" diameter unit with a 2.375" diameter replacement tube and elbow. " Sounds logical. Lots of fun options. lol Thanks Michael |

Re: ZX2 Performance?
I have to admit, I had placed the ZX2 squarley into the "girly pseudo-sports car" category until I bought this one for the wife. Even with the A/T, after the first test drive, I couldn't stop smiling. The instant throttle response, aggressive acceleration, and very capable handing for an economy car suprised me, and made me aware that there is some potential here. Everytime I drive it, I am suprised by what it can do and still achieve outstanding fuel economy. With some minor tuning, and a lowered and stiffened suspension, this car could be a pain in ass to the local rice rod wonks.

Re: ZX2 Performance?
and you haven't felt throttle response till you've ported the throttle body and the intake manifold. fuckin A my car jumps when i hit the throttle.
as far as SI's... think he was talkin stock for stock. although... stock for stock it's a driver's race w/ a zx2 and a '99-'00 SI. a slightly modded ZX2 will edge though and i believe the ZX2 responds better to breather mods and for sure a better response to a UDP. Civic crank pulleys aren't nearly as heavy as our 1500 gram POS. so basically if the specs were the same for both engines... ZX2 would prevail first and foremost. matt |

Re: ZX2 Performance?
No a drivers race is a 02+si and a ZX2. I dont see stock zx2's hiting 15.4-.6 at the track constantly like the 99-00 Si. An S/R can with a good driver.
and on the specs thing not really if you put a 99-00 Si motor in a zx2 (assuming the motor weights are the same cuz i have no idea how much either weigh) it would be nothing but a gearing and drivers race because the cars are similar in weight and would have the same power. |
