Wanted to do a RX7 with ITB poking thru the bonnet like MadMike's but the quality of the resin cast is so average.

Thanks Ash, I just realized I missed this question. The engine is a copy cast from the Tamiya 787B.

Righto, been a while since I touched this kit. I got a bit un motivated with all the details and life got busy. But hey, the joys of the hobby.

So what have I been doing? Well a lot of thinking and now changing a few things. I was gonna build a scratch built duckbill spoiler with magnets, but after the 3rd attempt, I was not happy. Also, I scrapped the rear diffuser and stripped the wheels.

Then painted white primer to lighten the Tamiya German grey.

Clear coat and decals

Now needs more clear coat. But now prepping the chassis for paint.

Thanks for looking and happy 2018.

Re: Tamiya Ferrari F40, not for the purists

It feels strange to see an exotic and iconic car getting one of its famous features 'sliced' off, but I have to admit I actually like the look of this F-40, although I feel a tinge of guilt saying that.

It's almost like slicing off and sanding down the side strakes on a Testarossa.

Anyways as I said I actually like the looks of what you've done here, clean work.

P.S. that guy who linked the testarossa chassis & interior gave me fucking nightmare flashbacks of building the same 512 TR kit from monogram, finishing everything, and realizing the body will not sit flush with the chassis. Seriously fuck that kit.

Thanks man, I was hoping to stir some good debates with this project, but everyone seems to like what I am doing 😂

The beauty of this hobby is we are limited by our imagination.

Luckily I have not encountered the 512TR kit a sounds like a nightmare
