'95 Galant Illumination Problem
After installing a CD player, my dash no longer lights up, and the clock doesn't dim when I turn my lights on. There is a pin that I don't know where to plug in, but there is an antenna signal running through it, so I don't know that it has any bearing on the situation. If anyone has any idea, or wants a picture, i'd be glad to post one.
I hope someone can help me out. Thanks in advance. |

Re: '95 Galant Illumination Problem
i ran into same problem after installin aftermarket mp3/cd player into 2001 galant.
apperantly the dimmer seems to be controlled/wired throught the radio, why I don't know , neither the guy at the parts dept. at any dealer i went to. the aftermarket radios do not have controls for dimmers, or at least the cheaper ones, if not all of them, what looks like to me, after taking a close look at few pioneers radios. what you need to do is this, throw original radio in, turn the dimmer so it is in its brightest possible level, take the power antenna pin out of the radio harness since it is useless if u do not have a power antenna in the car. if you do, then connect the power antenna pin to the proper place. and do not cannect anything to the dimmer wire. this way, the dash will be lit at its brightest level, and will not be able to be dimmed. My opinion is that I do not see a point of a dimmer anyway. I like my dash to look good and bright. my 2 cent on the subject. |

Re: '95 Galant Illumination Problem
I put the original tape deck back it, the illumination still didn't work. Know of anything else that I can try?

Re: '95 Galant Illumination Problem
as it is in 2001 galant, i believe the same would apply for previous models as well.
there is two compartments for the fuses. one is under the hood and the other one is inside. if that's the case for you as well, did you check both compartments?? look in the owners manual for the location. |
