on which car was the beetle based?

The TT and Beetle are both based on the VW/Audi A platform, as are the Golf, and the Jetta, and the A3...
With AWD and factory upgrades available(to TT spec), they're not that bad at all. In fact, a 4motion(vw's name for quattro) Golf is downright sporty, especially when you get your dealer to upgrade everything to TT specs.

It may be a good car, but it's far too womanly for me to drive... You can tell, because Porsche doesn't use the platform

I dont like the TT, actually; it has too little power and handling capability for the money. It is just too much money for too little, IMO.

Yes, I heard the TT was going to be getting the V6 from the S4, and the S4 is getting the 4.2 V8 from the S8...

Throwing power at an inadequate chassis causes more problems than it fixes, IMO.
