2 codes

I have 2 new codes that just popped up. I was just driving down the road when suddenly I noticed that the car lost some of its power and a message confirming this came on the dash, something to the effect of "Reduced engine power service traction system."

So when I got home I pulled 2 codes

1. P1125 manufacture control - not sure what that means other than it has something to do with the throttle position sensor.

2. P2138 - Throttle pedal position sensor - again are we saying the Throttle position sensor is bad????

What do you all think.

Re: 2 codes

Sounds like something is amiss with the tps, thus the reduced power, you need additional diagnosis with a full scan.

Re: 2 codes

This is probably a TAC system......no throttle cable, uses position sensor on the accel pedal and the throttle plate is motorized.....

Re: 2 codes

It was the throttle position sensor. Luckly my dealer warranted it. I gotta say this GM dealer is great. They even gave me a new command start FOB for free, as mine was defective.

I was technically over my warranty on miles. but not by much.

Re: 2 codes

BTW the TPS on this car is not separate from the throttle body. It is one complete unit. Therefore if it had been the TPS it could cost alot of money.

I'm glad to hear that you have found a great dealership to take care of you, and that your car has been repaired!
All the best,

Re: 2 codes

Let me just say this.....

Have worked for dealerships in the past.....

If you come to them for just warranty work, do you think they will go to bat for you if you are just out of warranty?

If you come to them for your regular maintenance, that Service Manager has access to your maintenance records, and can fight for you with this information to get GM to pay for all or part of the repair.....also in some cases, the SM has the power to fix SOME repairs at his own discretion.....
