Senator 3.0I 12V wont start! Please Help!
Hi there people,
Is there anyone here that can advise on a fault with my Senator which could be a possible suspect electrical fault. Here is a overview of the problem to see if anyone can fathom out what the problem is and give some possible pointers towards a solution? The car was running perfect until I switched off the ignition one day and when I tried to start it again the engine turned over but it would not start. It would appear that there is possibly loss of power to the electric fuel pump and also the engine control indicator on the dash appears to not be illuminated when the ignition is switched on. All other electrics on the car have been checked and appear to be working fine. There are no fuses blown, and I have already fitted a new fuel pump and filter and have tried a replacement fuel relay and also a almost new ECU control box and the fault is still present as the car turns over and still will not start. It still appears that there is fuel starvation and the above mentioned indicator on the dash is still not coming on. I have already in an attempt to diagnose the problem, manually fed fuel down the fuel line and the car started and run until the fuel ran out and then stalled because of the fuel starvation. What would I be interested in is finding out if the engine control indicator light is anything to do with the ignition control unit box? (this box is situated on the left hand side rear of the engine bay). I have not tried one of these replacement ignition control unit boxes yet because this could prove to be a waste of time and money in replacing this and I am afraid that this will not fix the problem? The engine control indicator light I have mentioned is situated along side the ABS break light on the control panel which is 4 along from the left hand side. Also, normally faults with these lights are that they normally keep coming on, but in this case it does not come on at all? Is there anyone here that can provide any pointers or any info on anything else to try in order to try and get the fault diagnosed? Many Thanks in advance, Mike. |

Just thought that I would also mention that the car is a 1989 Mark I model. Cheers. Mike.
