Revell Audi A4 DTM 2009

Hello guys this is my first model. Maybe it was a little bit too much because of the decals but in the end i liked the result. Especially because everything is new to me primer, airbrush/compressor, paints, decals...

Kit: Revell Audi A4 DTM 2009 Timo Scheider
Paints: Revell
Body: Semi-gloss black and Micro Set/Sol for decals
Didnīt use any varnish or clear cote afraid that would be too glossy

Thanks for the visit and any comment would be welcome since im so new on this

Welcome On AF board !

For a first model it's more than good, use of carbon, paint, details, decals... Everything is well done !
Most of us surely haven't had a first build result like yours !!

Thank you very much rallymaster. Now i think iīm going to start the Ferrari California kit from Revell also, doesnīt have the decals that the Audi have but that glossy and shine effect that the road cars should have is somethin new to me and i bet it will be very difficult to achieve it.

Very good job for a debut

I like these new A4 kits, if I had the balls I would buy one and turn it back to a street car.

Re: Revell Audi A4 DTM 2009

Welcome !

I have the same Audi A4, but not yet started.
Your Audi looks fine, and if it is your first car then my congratulations for clean, good job !!!
I remember when I first time used airbrush (many many years ago)... lol... paint was everywhere except model . But I didn't give up...

No You, not.
You just have to practice how to apply a paint and then (after drying) gloss clear on it.
But don't practice it on the model for begining !
Use some pice of plastic, for example the PET bottle (e.g. 1 liter Psepsii).
After painting few bottles you will be able to paint the car's body.

(don't look at model, look at the bottle !!)

Re: Revell Audi A4 DTM 2009

Thanks for the tip Mr Benz but the problem is that my airbrush sprays very light coats of paint, even when i put 2/3 layers iīm afraid of the part when i will have to sand it with micromesh 3600/6000/8000/12000 and then some polishing compound and the primer starts to show up.

I have bought some plastic spoons and will pratice on that My airbrush/compressor is this, i donīt even know the size of the nozzle and if i can change it. It doesnīt say in the box:

Re: Revell Audi A4 DTM 2009

OK
It may happen (to see the primer if you will work to hard).
Most probably on edges, so you have to secure the edges using e.g. some narrow strip of masking tape.
I usualy use only fine and finish compound (Tamiya) and that's enough for me. Of course and apply some wax, both to protect a body and give a shine.
You can read a lot about it problem in "Work in progress" sections or find it in some "F.A.Q".
We are waitnig for your Ferrari !
