WIP: Mustang projects crossed builds: Mustang GT "Xtreme-R" concept
Hello all,
It's surely not serious to start something when something else is still waiting to be finished, but I couldn't resist seeing jmwallac Mustang project to share something about my own project; after discussing about it, we finally decided to start crossed builds WIP. If anyone want to join the group (which is a duo at the moment ), feel free to enter. Here is jmwallac WIP: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=719115 history of my project: I've never really been a Mustang or even muscle cars fan, but when I saw the Revell box, I thought it would be possible to build a nice car inspired by Eleanor for example, or even the GT-R Mustang, then I recently bought one. I started modifying the body aiming to build a mix between GT-R and Eleanor, but during my pics search, I felt on a new pic that kept my attention, something much more inspiring for me, and decided to build something close to that, something like an extreme GT-R, a super evolution of the GT-R... I firstly saw that as a tuned car, not wanting to build a race car, but finally according to the idea of the crossed projects WIP and the idea of naming it Extreme GT-R, I am now entering it in the motorsport section and will build it as a GT-R road car, something close to the italian Stradale versions of their racing cars. So here it starts for me, with the pic inspiring me. The aim is now to build something close to that: see you at next step comments always welcome |

Looks like something straight out of Need for Speed.
But to each his own. I'll certainly appreciate the build quality and effort regardless. You've got a lot of work ahead of you. opcorn: |

All right Phil, let's see some progress...
You've got a lot of putty and plastic card ahead of you. Thankfully, mine is mild compared to this one. I think that Mustang, while a little over the top, looks awesome! Let's see your take on it! |

Re: WIP: Mustang projects crossed builds: Mustang GT "Xtreme-R" concept
Hi Guys,
thanks for your words of uncouragement yes, right I have many efforts ahead... but first was to find back the thread where I left it !!!!! Ok not in motorsport section.... Grrrr... just when (or because ? ) I was explaining my choice to put it there... Ok no matter, it's finally more a road car concept based on a racing look than a pure racing car. motorsport section was a better choice to make this crossed builds clearer to follow. So here is the first progress: Engine hood ! I opened a hole and added the air intake, made of plastic card of course. first, I placed the side frames, long time sanded to give them the perfect size and position... After that, I placed the top frame, kept in place while glue was drying. That's all for the moment. Thanks for reading, comments welcome |

Well, to each his own I guess. It isn't bad, just a bit too much for me. Lots of work ahead - will be watching.

Nice work. I assume this is the Revell Germany kit since it's molded in red?
I need to keep up with mine! Progress soon! |

Re: WIP: Mustang projects crossed builds: Mustang GT "Xtreme-R" concept
Hi Guys,
Thanks for your words on my project. I agree with the ones thinking it could be too much, but that's also what pleases me with this car, and if I can make it building something close I think that the result will be fine Yes it's Revell Germany kit, as I lived only 50 km away from Germany I cannot expect anything else. And to be honnest I would never have heard something about the two different Revell, Revell Germany or US, without coming here and I only know the one I can find here. here is the kit box: (paid 22,50 euros -10%) And here is the new update. I started working on the body. the original one: And mine after cutting side skirts, opening all vents and air intakles in the front spoiler, and opening some new ones behind front fenders. The white part is the plastic card part that will take place inside the hole to figure the airvent; at the moment it's only placed there as it hangs into the hole. I will continue working on that part for the next update. I also started to extend the front fenders by two steps of plastic card addition from two different thickness. I will detail the process for the rear fenders for people interested in. that's all for tonight ! Comments always welcome |

Re: WIP: Mustang projects crossed builds: Mustang GT "Xtreme-R" concept
Looks good. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress on the rear fender. I want to see if there's an easier way than I did it. I used epoxy putty and rough shaped it then filed it flat.
How are you handling the side scoop behind the front wheel well? Pictures of that would be great. (You can see the hacked up attempt I've made on mine). |

What was used to make the vent behind the front fender? How did you get such a clean cut?
