Pirelli Peugeot 307 WRC - Gigi Galli

I am building the Pirelli 307 now.
The recommended paint color is TS 47 as I have used.

It looks too dark to me. Your opinions, please.

Re: WIP: BSA Peugeot 307 WRC - Bruno Thiry - Condroz Rally 2006

TS47 ????? But it's the Camel yellow, right ??
Who recommend that, Renaissance ?

I really doubt about the color, for me the color is too orange...

nevertheless it's not always evident on pictures. The car always seems almost lemon-yellow in full light but a little bit darker and then orange without so much light...
But Camel yellow I doubt...

Who knows it better than I ???

EDIT: I've just found another reference (REJI model on their TK), and TS given is #16 ! more close to what I imagined

Thank you.

Yes, Rennaissance recommended TS47 on the TK decal sheet.

I'm looking to change it. I thought it was too orange as well. TS16 will be closer.

Pat, it would be better if you created your own thread to discuss your 307 build. I tried to split the last few posts off into a new thread but the database is having a few problems at the moment.

BTW it does look too orange to me. I wonder if it is a simple mistake on the Reniassance instructions or perhaps Ettiene knows something we don't.

Understood.

I'm pretty much a lurker here and was looking for an opinion on that color.

Re: Pirelli Peugeot 307 WRC - Giggi Galli

What do you know - the site is working properly again and I was finally able to split this off into its own thread.

So any other opinions on the correct shade of yellow to use?

Re: Pirelli Peugeot 307 WRC - Giggi Galli

How nice, another Gigi Galli car (: excellent choice, one of the better Peugeot 307 liveries. (I have this one on my to do pile as well).

Maybe your camera makes it look too dark. Or did you use grey primer?

If you need a little motivation, take a look at this one.

When will you paint yours with ts16? I wonder how it will look like.

Thank you for the separate thread.

I'm not doing anything detailed with this build....I build 'out of box'.
I am waiting to buy some TS16... money is tight.
The yellow currently on it, the TS47 as recommended, is over a PlastiKote WHITE primer.

Marco.

Thank you. That one in that link looks the same color as mine, and my reference pics show that is too dark.

I'm stuck in the middle here, but I think it should be lighter.

Re: Pirelli Peugeot 307 WRC - Giggi Galli

Hi

I, too, am building this car. I just love the livery and I like Gigi as a driver. Seems like a nice fellow (except when the pace-notes are wrong...).

I too used TS 47 which is by the way <nitpick=true> Chrome Yellow as opposed to Camel Yellow, which Rallymaster thought <nitpick=false>.
Camel yellow is even darker and more "orang-y" than TS47.

I have been pondering about this color too. Is it too dark or not ?
I have several pictures of Gigi's car (look on www.gigigalli.com or www.ewrc.cz for hi-res pics) in different shades of yellow.
I hope that tomorrow the sun will shine , so I can take my car outside and have a really good look at the color. But I'm inclined to leave it TS47. I think that TS16 is too light.
Besides. I'm very pleased with the paintjob I did so far, and I don't want to screw it by laying another coat on it (wouldn't be the first time ).

Maybe I'll start a WIP shortly, but as I'm a fairly s-l-o-w builder, I might wait a while longer till I'm almost finished...

I don't like to go outside with it as the build will be looked at inside, whether at home or at the Club display.
I'm thinking the TS16 over the exiating TS47 will be good.

From what i've been able to determine, the car SHOULD be this color ...

Roll cage mocked up to the interior plate.

Suspension mocked up to chassis plate

Not too pleased with the die cast chassis plate.

Re: Pirelli Peugeot 307 WRC - Gigi Galli

I did a test a while back of the three yellow TS colors for my 355GT3 build and i would have to say that TS16 is the way to go. Unfortunatly, i think you may want to respray a white base coat as that yellow will influence the the lighter yellow and might come out a little darker then desired. Even better would be x-8 "lemon yellow" if you have an airbrush.

Hi Axel,

Mmm you're right, Camel yellow is TS34 not 47...
So I was wrong when thinking to "Camel" yellow, nevertheless the point of view seeing the pics and the color result doesn't change...

Even if TS47 is the reference given, and so probably the right one, the problem is (like for other references, for example RAL 5002 = Bozian, OMV and Xsara blue) to choose the right one, or to choose the one that gives the color effect we use to see on pics...

I think that it's exactly contrary to what I first though: that's the light pictures that give a too light effect to the paint and not a bad light that gives a too dark effect.

TS47 really seems to be the right color... if you put your model in the same full light that the one existing on most of the pictures we all can see about the car !

Only the owner of the model can choose now.

Re: Pirelli Peugeot 307 WRC - Gigi Galli

Well, after determining I am a dumbass and had my camera flash and aperature set up for a different lighting balance , i've RE-PHOTOGRAPHED the Pug in PROPER lighting.

MUCH closer to the correct color.
