95 Quest Gear Shifter

Hello peoples.

Recently, I have been having trouble with the gear shifter in my 95 nissan quest. It's really loose, and sometimes it doesn't recognize whether it's in park or reverse, or drive. I have to put it up and down a few times to make it move forward. I took it to the mechanic on Friday, and he told me I would need to replace the gear shifter because it's loose. Today he called me and told me the price for the replacement is going to be $150. I wanted to know, where can I find this part online? How much does the part actually run for? Please help me out, thank you.

Re: 95 Quest Gear Shifter

My wife's '95 Nissan Quest had same problem. Our mechanic fixed it 3/20/09 by tighten the shifter linkage at steering column for $25.

Check the linkage bolts they do come loose or fall out causing your problem.
Check this link with picture of bolt location:

Have someone move the shift lever while you are locating that will help, should be cheap easy fix.
Hope this helps
