Hi folks. Newbie to the site; looking forward to learning a few things.
This question popped into my head after changing out a crankshaft position sensor on a '97 Saturn. The piece has only one bolt, which is completely obscured by the starter, and it struck me that with a minor change to the casting, or to the mounting flange of the part, it didn't have to be nearly as time-consuming.
And so...do you think that cars with a hint of racing pedigree, such as, for example, the Focus (being an old-school WRC fan, this was the car that popped into my head, but could include the Fiesta, Corvette, Viper, etc.) have certain items laid out in a more efficient manner to facilitate quick and easy maintenance? Perhaps the hard-core racing variants deviate so much from stock items, it wouldn't make much difference (though, aren't the latest rally cars pretty close to stock?), but even at the club level, it's good marketing having your cars on the grid, eh?
Thoughts? Thanks!
