ID this emblem?
Ok.. I've had my car, a '66 Dodge Charger, since I was 16, and it's had this 500 flag on it since I bought it... I've never seen it on any other vehicle, and I figure I oughta find out what it came off of....
so.... any ideas? Thanks! |

Re: ID this emblem?
My first guess was something to do with Indy 500, but none of the images that came up in a quick google search matched your picture. Maybe someone else has seen that?

Re: ID this emblem?
Well, there as the Daytona 500 model, first started (as far as I know) in 1969 as a limited-edition model which featured a more aerodynamic grille and rear end for the NASCAR wars. Chrysler made 500 of them in the first year so they would qualify as a production model under NASCAR rules.
They looked like this: http://www.oldride.com/classic_cars/632170.html http://www.carpictures.com/Dodge/Cha...06KRM071610768 The 500 model continued through 1970 and '71, as far as I can tell. Your '66 predates the Charger 500 model by 3 years, so I wonder if a previous owner got a hold of some Charger 500 emblems and put them on the '66. |
