Re: would you buy another ford truck??
I bought my '96 F150 Eddie Bauer in '98 with 38,000 miles on it. I do hardwood flooring for a living and use my truck for work. I have filled the bed with alot of different heavy stuff from a full pallet of Red Oak to a bedload of mortar and tile. I have never had a problem with the rear springs or suspension. I now have 298,000 miles on it, and have done no internal engine work. The truck still looks brand new when washed, and runs perfectly.
So, to answer the question, I will buy another Ford truck when I need one, until then mine is perfect.

Re: would you buy another ford truck??
Yes,my ford ranger,99 extended cab, is just great. It's a good little 1/4 ton truck that needs beefing up in the rear springs................EXCEPT the 98 + 99 Ford Ranger4x4 hubs are Garbage.I can't believe Ford dosen't have a recall on them or even offer a manual lockout hub kit to replace them.

Re: would you buy another ford truck??
My dad bought new a 67 custom 100 with 3 on the shaft. It was mine when I started to drive in 77. I had it until 79 when I got me a 77 t-bird w/ that 400 cbi engine. Dad got back his 67 100. In 83 I bought a chevy 1 ton w/ 454 4BBL engine. It got great mileage since it got around mostly on the back of a wrecker. (no kidding, the tow truck company started giving me their fleet discount). One day I told the wife that I was going out to get the tranny fixed on the duelly. When I came home, I was driving a brand new 87 F150 XLT Lariot. She was not mad. The only time that truck has seen a wrecker was when she wrecked it. She is now my ex. I got it fixed and today I still drive it. Planning on giving it to my son to drive and he is 14. My everyday car is a 99 CVPI. Owned an escort and let it go when I got the crown vic. After the 77 T-Bird, I have also owned 2 others since that. My current fleet is an 87 F150, 99 CVPI, and 96 Contour which I think was designed by the same guys who did the Pinto. It's my problem child. PS. My dad kept the 67 custom 100 until it was stolen in 93. He bought him an 87 F150 from a co-worker before he retired and he still drives it today with his 2003 Lincoln.

Re: would you buy another ford truck??
Our 2000 f150 has nearly 200,000 miles on it [I posted when this thread began],but we had 89 and 93 f150s that were trash.I would NEVER recommend ford cars except for the crown vic and maybe the mustang.
My hubby just bought an 04 Titan, and it already has probs [31,000 miles],but we really like it. I guess all vehicles have issues, but the 2000 f150 that we have has really held up. I know people with Rams and Silverados with 200,000 or more miles, too. It is just a matter of taste and maybe, luck of the draw. |

Re: would you buy another ford truck??
Here is the deal! I've been converted to Ford. I was a Jap. kind of guy. I though the Japs had the best cars ever until I purchase my 98 Expedition EB 4.6. I purchased the truck new. It now has 172K and no lie, this is all the things I have done to it since new. 1 oxygen sensor. I have replaced the usual stuff, fluids, brakes, tieres. I still have all original, hoses, even the Delco battery!, starter, alternator. I change the plugs at 100k along with the wires. Man I tell you this truck rocks! My wife and I purchased a 05 Explorer and will run it till it dropes in maby 20 years. We have a 97 Isuzu Rodeo which is great too. Will stick with Ford Trucks for a very long time.
BTW. CD changer does not work. I have never even had a flat tire. Knock on wood things keep this way!

Re: would you buy another ford truck??
Theres only one chevy truck I would ever buy again and thank god my uncle doesnt want to sell it. It caused me nothing but problems. Ive owned several fords and I have had better luck with them than anyone else I know has. My poor little 94 ranger has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. After being run off the road down a 20 foot drop into a field the damn thing fired back up and got me home safe with a bent radius arm and axle, cracked spindle, busted shock, and bent frame. After replacing what is basically the entire front suspension she still runs and drives great although the bumper is still bent along with a minor tweak in the frame. The only downside is she wears tires down a little faster than normal. My F250 has never had a serious problem. Its 460 just chugs along without a care in the world. It rides rough but I only use it to pull a car trailer b/c she doesnt get very good gas mileage.
I honestly dont think I will ever buy a chevy. I am just one of those people they dont like and refuse to work right for. Ill just have to stick with that good old blue oval. |

Re: would you buy another ford truck??
I work for a city of about 500,000 people. The city buys whatever is the cheapest bid as far as trucks go. Through the years I've driven all three major brands. Every Dodge I've had has been towed at least 3 times. The Chevys seem to wear out transmissions a lot and need more maintainence then the other two. The Fords are always kept longer and very sought after at the annual auctions. Remember these trucks are driven by many different drivers who don't really care about how bad they abuse them. It just seems the Fords stand up better.
