Re: Car modeling... confessions

i often frequent the... how can i say... "feminine" departments of a store with an eye for goodies which may be useful to my builds
ie, the haberdashery section (for needles/wire/threads/mesh)
or the cosmetics section... i spend ages browsing the nail polish/nail files/ca glue/paints/acrylic gloss/hairspray range
and let's not forget the beading/crafts section (wire/flocking)

Re: Car modeling... confessions

I have more fingernail polish than my wife.

I've almost forgotten how to use regular paints.

I used my ex-gf (now ex-wife) to buy me fingernail polish. Didn't have the guts to buy myself. I haven't used them tho. Yes the nailpolish, duh!

Re: Car modeling... confessions

I find when I get to a point in a build that I think will be a pain in the ass, I'll set it aside and work on something else or just let it sit. Then when I finally make myself sit down and do it, find out it wasn't so bad after all.

Re: Car modeling... confessions

Confession # 1
I've destroyed a good number of kits out of anger and frustration while doing
custom body work. As a result, I have a bunch of untouched kits that
have missing car bodies.

Confession # 2
I tried to return to the hobby in 2013 and proceeded to paint a car body without primer (which I never do) because I was lazy. The paint job came out nice and I followed it up with masking tape to paint the black trim. Upon painting the trim, I lifted the masking tape along with my nice paint job. That resulted in me resuming my car modeling break.

Don't skimp on the primer boys.

Re: Car modeling... confessions

I start every project with the firm intention of doing a simple, clean, out-of-box build. Soon the project is absolutely out of control, with all the crap I scratchbuild or fix. Shortly after that, I totally burn out and put that project away, never to be seen again. Then, I start a new project and the whole cycle starts over. I have not finished a single thing since 1997. And like everyone else, I spend WAY more time thinking about projects than actually doing something about it, and I have, at this point in my 55-year old life, probably 2000 or so kits in all scales and all brands that will in all likelihood, never, ever get built.

And if I were forced out of this hobby for some reason, you might as well kill me.
