Paint Job Budget

Is 600 dollars good for a paint job budjet? This will be just on the paint, primers, clears, thineers. etc.. itself. The tools like air compressor and guns are on anohter budjet. Is just 600 for the paints good? Will i get a good result. I want sumthing that will look goond, and not chip off fast, but i dont wanna spend thousands of dollars to get like a showcar look.

Re: Paint Job Budget

Mmm. I dont know. My buddy just painted his plane, said he used roughly the same about for a car. He spent $2500 and its not show car quality. It depends on the paint you use.

Dupont and PPG are top of the line paints. For the full set up it will probably set you back $1500-$2000. It also depends on your paint supplier.

If you use SW paint, you need to use SW primer, base, clear, and reducers. Dont try to use SW primer, and PPG base, and another clear. It will end up costing you more money in the end because it will create problems that will need to be redone.

Re: Paint Job Budget

1-2 Gallons. You can start off with less and always buy more. It depends on the paint, how much you reduce, and size of the car. Also weather can effect the way the paint lays down.
