97 Yukon wont start, but after turning key over&over it starts up.
Hey I have a 97 2 door Yukon.
Ok, what happens is when I get into start my truck up, I put the key in, turn it, everything comes on, the radio, windows work, everything, you even hear the fuel pump for the first second or two before it stops. The problem is the engine wont start. once the fuel pump is done making its noise NOTHING! this happens completely randomly. Ive tried replacing the starter twice, still did it, then I took the battery to have it tested to see if it still was good, they said it wasnt and I bought a new battery. sence I bought a new battery this hasnt been happening really at all and I bought it about 4 months ago. Today and yesterday when I went out to go to work, I was going to start it and nothing! Yesterday I needed to get to an interview and NOTHING and thought I wasnt gonna be able to make it, after sitting in the truck for bout ten mins turning the key over and over hoping it would start, it finally started right up. today I tried and instead of turning it over and over I held it in the start position for maybe 30-45 seconds and it finally started. I cannot have this happening! anybody have ANY idea what is wrong? |

Be careful you might flood the engine or even kill your battery. Check the battery cables for any corrosion. Check the cables connectors at the area where they connect to the battery, if they are corroded use a steel brush to clean it up or baking soda with water and a old tooth brush to eat the corrosion. Hope this helps.

I had the same thing with my suburban. It was a bad distributor, I got one from www.1aauto.com for like $180 ran fine ever since.
