Re: looking for a car

The Cavalier Z24 is an inline-four. I'll ignore your comment about Japanese cars being front-wheel-drive, and go watch some RX-7 drift videos instead. Also, don't get the Firebird or Camaro, because they aren't "American made"; they're built in Canada. Honestly, I don't really know what to tell you. I don't really care, and therefore don't really know, which country any car is from. In my opinion, a good car is a good car, no matter what flag it was born under.

Re: looking for a car

Rear-wheel-drive is much better, which is why I suggested the 300ZX. Also, while import parts are more expensive, imports are better built, so you won't have to replace parts as often.

Re: looking for a car

Oh yeah, if you live in a snowy area, don't even think about the 300ZX. I've heard too many accounts of drivers getting on the gas a bit too much during a light rain shower and ending up in a ditch.

Re: looking for a car

As I've already said, there is nothing about a car being import or domestic that makes it different. It's the car itself. But certain brand names do have certain reputations for reliability, as well as overall image. For this reason, I will probably never buy a non-Japanese car, unless American companies really shape up their build quality.

Re: Re: looking for a car

now why do you say that??
because of past experences??
most if not all auto makers are in going at it to make the best cars why would any auto maker down size there parts Greed i guess or maybe to lower the price?? whatever the case would you predict that soon that Gm is going to stop making cars because of quality?? or anyother company for that matter I feel there are too many companys too many models and if any half ass it there gone.

Re: looking for a car

Well, every domestic car tha my family has owned has been ready for the junkyard at 80K or less, and we take good care of our cars. On the other hand, my 1996 Camry V6 LE is at 110K miles, and I haven't had one major repair of yet. There's a reason that Toyota and Honda cars have the highest resale values: Japan builds their cars to last. America builds its cars to sell, which they do pretty well, but not much more.

Anyways, I suggest we drop this now, because the mods don't like domestic vs. import threads. They usually turn into flame-wars, and that's no good at all.
