Suzuki RGB500 Wil Hartog
Hello, after a long time i've started this RGB500.
The basics are Tamiya's team gallina RGB with studio27 PE. The decals are from ragged edge ( thanks Rod for the information ). The first problem was the front wheel. The kit has a five spoke wheel and the original has a three spoke wheel, luckely i had a spare from the Akai yamaha. A nice starting pic of the original bike. Other problems that have to been solved are the decals are from a imola 200 race and i want to build a normal GP bike, what means i have to paint the numbershields yellow and ad a number 8 decal. I started with the rearbrakedisk, which is mostly PE. After the rearbrakedisk is started the first front disk, which is also mostly PE. on the engine is only the clutch PE. To get the bike time correct to the original the rearbrake mastercilinder had to be re placed from inside the frame to the rear of the frame. I have to build this bike in a very good shape because a collegue of me Knows Wil Hartog ( who does race some times on his '79 bike in demoruns ) in person and i want to give him some pics when its finished.

Wow, that's a name from the past - I used to watch Wil Hartog race at Brands Hatch when I was a kid! Looking forward to seeing more of the buildopcorn:

Re: Suzuki RGB500 Wil Hartog
Sorry that i forgot to update this one for solong .
Since two years ago a lot of work is done. I'll keep it by the pictures. I also started de decalwork. The decals are from ragged edge and very nice and thin. To get the decals in shape a lot of microsol was used. denman

Just brush on lots of microsol and wait . The wrinkles you see are also from the microsol, so when you put on the microsol dont get scared of the wrinkles . denman

Re: Suzuki RGB500 Wil Hartog
Do you wait until it's dry or do you add more on after a while even though it's still wet?

Re: Suzuki RGB500 Wil Hartog
Joel,
I wait a few minutes between the sol layers, just not completely dry. Large decals ar most done with three times brushing sol and the sharp edges some more times. Between the solbrushes on sharpedges I wait 'till it's dry. Denman

Re: Suzuki RGB500 Wil Hartog
Hi Denman, great to see some posts of my decals, I have been hard to catch in last few years as I have Parkinsons, but with better medicine I am great now.
Good news, we are back with help from daughter and s/law, they are doing web work and other technical stuff. Due in mid august 2011 are the Zeelenberg '90 Samson NSR 250, and the Middleburg '93 ns500 Honda Barclay bike. Then we will follow that with a couple of other scorchers. pass the word mate, we are now www.RaggedEdgeDesigns.com as off wednesday. We have begun contacting stores and all the previous decals are there, almost. Cheers , Rodney. |

Re: Suzuki RGB500 Wil Hartog
Hai Rod,
This item is on hold for a litte while. Since last jear i'm divorced and living in a very smal apartment with no room to modelling. I hope to finish this one next year. You may use my ending photo's for your site if you wish.

Re: Suzuki RGB500 Wil Hartog
Hello Denman, well I am so sorry about you getting divorced, its not a model encouraging situation. when you start again, we will all support you with comments to your posts.
The decal work you did is outstanding, better than mine turned out actually. I must try the same decal solutions you used. Its a big decal job but when done is so cool, if you wish to do an GP version with yellow boards use the template and paint them. Or if you have scrap white decal paper, spray yellow and cut out and apply. I have a spare sheet, that I used to remove a word from, if you PM me, with new address, I will send to you free. cheers, Rod |

Re: Suzuki RGB500 Wil Hartog
i did the same on my Middelburg yamaha ( the stripes are handpainted ).
The number shield i used was original from the akai sheene yamaha and painted yellow. If i may make a mistake on my decal work i will contact you, Rod. thanks. i use the copy of the decalsheet to make templates for some parts ( front fender ) to paint.
