1990 b150 ram van 5.2
Low fuel pressure.
With fuel pressure reg hose off. 14psi With fuel pressure reg hose on reads 8-9 psi. Engine slowly shuts off. When driven with fuel pressure reg hose on or off, van runs like no power. Like a Honda 1.5 liter trying to push a van. Louzzzyy 13-14 volts to pump. Yes.green wire. Blue 6 volts Asd tested passed. Green wire on when engine is on. Off when key forward engine not started. Tried direct power from batt 13-14 volts running. Green wire. Replaced fuel pressure reg Psi. Went from 6to9 with new regulator. Coil good. Tune up done oil change. Wires n plugs. Cap n rotor, good spark. All that ok. Could it be clogged throttle body. Or faulty fuel pump. Weak? Last edited by benjaminjb; 08-19-2013 at 09:24 AM. Reason: spelling |

Does your van have a fuel filter in the fuel line? Sure does sound like a weak pump, with so low a fuel pressure.

Re: 1990 b150 ram van 5.2
Yes in line. Fuel filter replaced.when I did initial tune up.
And the manual for the year van it is. Stated fuel pressure has to b @ approximately 14-15 psi with fuel pressure regulator hose connected And it says it has to read approximately 21psi when fuel pressure regulator hose disconnected. 8-9 psi with it disconnected sounds way to low. Can you confirm that 8-9 psi of fuel pressure for TBI is sufficient enough. And where did you get info from. Please post a link proof evidence. Or what you referred to, to say 8-9 psi is good . Pump is getting 13-14 volts. Low pressure still. Van shut off if I connect fuel pressure regulator. Last edited by benjaminjb; 08-23-2013 at 07:37 PM. Reason: typo |
