1989 Toyota Camry (Fuel Pump Location)
Can you get to the fuel pump by taking the rear seat out or do I have to lower the tank?

You have to lower the tank (after you disconnect the negative battery terminal)

after replacing many, many, many parts on it I was in the process of replacing the fuel pump and discovered the electronic fuel pump had a 99% clogged fuel strainer/filter on it. once I replaced the filter/strainer the problem solved. I had to drop the gas tank to get at the electronic fuel pump. no access to it by removing the back seat. Hopefully you won't have to drop the gas tank. What a PITA job that was. Good luck with your car. Regards, JOET/CAMRY |

Re: 1989 Toyota Camry (Fuel Pump Location)
I had a simular problem with my 89 camry , wud run for a few seconds then stop. it wasnt fuel but air. on my camry there is a plug that attaches to the air cleaner. this plug is retangle shaped and it plugs in to the hose to the air cleaner. it had a dry circuit and bent pin. once the pin was straightened and plug packed with a bit of grease it never did it again. hope this helps
