4 lights always on ABS, service vechile soon, Brake and no traction.

Hi, I have been driving with 4 lights on my dash, service vechile soon, brake, ABS and no traction for over a month. I took it to my mechanic and he said I need a part that costs about half what the car is worth. The car drives great my ? is do I have no tracton, ABS, or do I need this part he was talking about to fix it?

Best thing to do is get the ABS codes (DTC) from the mechanic and post them here for review. The mechanic is probably referring to the Electronic Brake and Traction Control (EBTCM) module which is very expensive new. Even without ABS and traction control working you will have conventional braking but it doesn't hurt to get the ABS system working properly.

Thank You! Your opinion? Go for the part or drive it the way it is?

You're welcome. It depends on the cost. What did the mechanic quote you on total cost (parts & labor).

Ouch! Tough decision since your Regal GS is only worth around $5K clean retail give or take.

Are you DIY capable? If it were me I'd get it fixed sooner or later but do the work myself. You can get rebuilt EBTCM modules for around $300 or less. But more troubleshooting to make sure the suspected part is bad. However, you can drive it with ABS and Traction Control not working just be careful.

Hi, I wish I could do it myself but I would have to take it to somebody. I guess a rebuilt one is the way to go! Thanks' for your help!!

I would check the speed sensor on the front wheel bearings. You should be able to find something on the sensor resistance ohms on this board. If the sensor is " broken" and not sending a signal on how fast the wheel is turning it will cause these lights (not sure about brake). It is much cheaper than than $1600 and not that difficult to change.

Re: 4 lights always on ABS, service vechile soon, Brake and no traction.

you know whats funny, I got my codes check awhile back and I had speed sensors and traction and all kinds of garbage pop up. But whats funny is for some reason alot of things in a regal seem like they run on the same circuit. Meaning if one thing is broke it says several others are broke. So what I did was put the car on jack stands and did a look over front to back. Well if you don't know your traction wires are those nice wires just hanging around right behind your rotors and wheel hubs, well my wires didn't look the hotest and to replace them you have to replace the whole hub. Well I got them all pretty and electric tape them up and sure enough my traction control has yet to give me any problems and BAM everything worked again. Went back go my system checked and NO CODES. These cars are so funny but yet soooo easy to work on. ITs just FINDING the start of the round robin lol.
