'58 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster

Here's my new project. I'll build this for a dutch magazine. It's the newest kit from Revell DE. It's just a re-issue from a USA kit, but I still like the car a lot and it means fresh decals!

I'll build this pretty box stock except for the wheels. I'll use Advan Racing RS-DF wheels in chrome. Normally these wheels were fitted under a japanese tuning car, but I like the look on the Corvette also.

From British Motors I had a nice Ice Blue paint. I also used it on the '67 Corvette a few years ago.

En hier heb ik de kleur inspiratie vandaan:

First I marked the moldlines before I sanded them. It's hard to see on this white plastic.

Followed by a few layers of Zero Primer.

And a few layers of Ice Blue. The sidepanel is painted Silver.

Next will be the BMF and Clearcoat I think.

Kris.

Re: '58 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster

New update:

First I added the bmf on the body. I also forgot to paint a piece of the body in silver, so I did that before I clearcoated the body with 2K Clear.

Re: '58 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster

I also started on the engine. I just build it OOB. The chassis was painted black and clearcoated. The exhausts are painted with Alclad.

After this I polished the body. No sanding, just a few compounds were enough.

Re: '58 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster

New update.

I started on the interior. First I painted it with bodycolor without clearcoat. After this I added BMF on the trims. Some parts were masked off and clearcoated.

The floor and boot got interiorflocking. I used blue cause I liked it. It's a ''hate it or love it'' story I know ... I just like it!
I also added seatbelts from some left over PE parts.

After this I mounted it on the chassis.

Re: '58 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster

Today i searched for a new set of wheels cause the wheels from the 1st posting are a bit too big. I found these Pegasus Hellas wheels. I painted the center in silver and added the logos on the knock-offs.

After this I added most of the chromeparts on the body. The last parts will be attached when the marriage between body and chassis is done.

Re: '58 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster

Nice work Kris. Love your builds. I have to agree with the other post that I dont like the first choice of wheels, but the second set you picked, those I like. Cant wait to see them under the Vette. I love the colour choice too... very vintage looking, my uncle has a '64 Mustang convertible that is almost the same colour, looks really good on old cars. Looking forward to seeing this one finished.

Amazing project! I am not a big fan of American cars (and yes I am American) but this one is turning out super beautiful. Killer paint job, color combo with cool engine and interior details. Looking forward to see it finished. Congrats!

Re: '58 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster

My old boss had a '58 in these colors. Apparently a GM test car which got damaged at a track. He got it repaired, drove it awhile & ended up selling out to Bud Selig. It had a 283 with dual 4bbls iirc. He had some cool stories about racing it as well as out running the highway patrol
