Monte Carlo dash with tach in a 95 lumina
Just for the tach i found a 99 Monte Carlo with a column shifter and tried installing it in my 95 Lumina, Well let's say the tach work's but the fuel gauge with the original dash was at 3/4 and with the monte dash it's empty. I haven't ran the motor to warm it up and compare the temp gauge yet.
I alway's thought the senders for the fuel gauge were the same ohm-age. Been searching to see if there's a wiring difference between a 95 lumina and a 99 monte and i'v had no luck. The dash connector is identical. It may be i got a fuel gauge that's fubar too. The origional dash has spedo, Fuel and coolant temp. The monte dash has tach, spedo, fuel and coolant temp And one have any idea's on this? I see another old post with no helpful comment's in it Thank's Scott |

Re: Monte Carlo dash with tach in a 95 lumina
I just took that dash back and got one out of a 99 Monte with a 3100 and it's the same, reads empty. Plug in the original dash and it's 3/4.
I did subscribe to all data for the single vehicle subscription, looks like I'll need to do a 99 Monte as well. The interchange says they both match though. Wiring diagram says the wire from the fuel level sensor goes to the connector at pin C-14. I need a diagram for the Monte to see if it's in the same location. |

The all data subscription i signed up was alldadadiy.
Added a subscription for the 99 monte and there's no wiring diagram listed under it. So there goes that idea. I may have to give up on this idea. |

Re: Monte Carlo dash with tach in a 95 lumina
Your best bet is to go to a Chevy dealer and look for manuals, and get a copy of the fuel level senders......
1995 is that tricky OBD I/OBD II transition year.......some senders send info directly to the I/P, and some send it to the PCM first...... As for resistance of the senders, older vehicles were 0-80 ohms, while the newer ones were 40-240 ohms.....so you definitely need specific wiring diagrams to see if there are potential problems..... |

Re: Monte Carlo dash with tach in a 95 lumina
Thanks tech 2.
So the ohms changed. That means a different fuel sender. I take it that 240 is full and 40 is empty. What's the 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 readings? I will ohm out the C-14 wire to ground and see what that will be in relation to what the 95 dash. Hope to hear back from you shortly. I have 1 week to figure this out or the original dash goes back in. C-ya Scott |
