89 929 won't start

this car won't start unless I unplug the airflow meter but then it won't take gas. I tried another airflow meter from a junk car and it did the same thing. I can hold the meter flap open with my hand and it'll start but no gas. Is there any certain way I can be sure that I have a bad sensor? Please help me I'm poor!

Some junk yards will give 10 days if it doesn't work they will give you another one. I have tapped some air flow sensors with the plastic part of a screwdriver hold the metal part in your hand. This seams to allow it to work .
But only tried on chevys.
I would use your gensis tester at work and monitor voltage to the sensor. As ford mazda uses a mozda engine you should be able to check it out. Also get all codes. If your work at a dealership borrow friends equipment or get the computer tech to do it for lunch. Ohm the sensor and check for jumps in ohms something out of the ordinary.
Will it run spraying starter fluid in the intake.
Check the pickup in the distributor and the crankshaft position sensor. With an ohm meter they should go from zero to one when cranking.
