Effect of Snow/Salt...
I have a DC Sports Catback that I installed back in March. With living in the Cleveland area, the snow is on it way. I know that when it rains, and the exhaust get really hot, water evaporates on it leaveing dirt, and other crap on the exhaust. Up to this point I have tried to do all I can to help keep the full pollished look that it came with. I was just wondering, do I have to worry about the Salt and Snow this winter on my DC system? Will the salt discolor or tarnish it in anyway, if so what is the best thing to do to stop this from happening? I know that it is just a pipe under the car that no one will really ever look it, but with paying as much as I did for the system, I feel that I should do all I can to keep it looking as good as the day I got it.

is it stainless or mild steel. if it's steel your screwed. stainless you can at least clean.

DC uses stainless steel tubing. dont worry about corrosion. by the time SS corrodes, your motor will have died a horrible death.

Stainless actually corrodes fairly readily when exposed to chlorine. Saltwater contains lots of chlorine ions...

Are you serious. Great, right now my exhaust is out there rotting in salt. Do you think I should put the silencer in or take it out? Will water vapors build up in there and freeze if I have the silencer? This is my first winter with the system.

I am serious, but in all honesty the stainless headers and exhaust systems seem to last fairly well even in salty conditions. It's usually the case that the rest of the car falls apart first. There's little hope that your parts will maintain an attractive appearance after a salt bath, though...

Are you talking about one of those exhaust tip silencers, a standard muffler, or something else?

If you want it to be shiny next spring, take it off. Otherwise, just leave it. I don't see any real potential for problems with ice. As long as you don't back into a snowbank and fill it up, it should be okay.
