1988 Camaro V.6 - 2.8 Mileage help.

Hey guys!

Well ive made a topic here before but this one is more specific.

The car saids it has 500,000 miles on it.

ASWELL as the RPM staying at 7 even when the car isnt moving.

Well i live in florida it is VERY hot here. On an average 85* + And the car was sitting at the old owners driveway for a year but it had a cover on.. if that helps lol

Well ive talked to two profesional engineers them being my relatives i trust them but the problem is they both live in new york..

Well one of them works for mercedes (spelled that wrong sorry) and hes an aeronautic engineer aswell, He saids that 1988 camaros reset after every 100,000 miles to back to 1 mile.

I was wondering for all you guys is this true? I just need to know because if this car is really at 500,000 miles then im most likely not going to get the car, even tho its free.

If the speedo is a 6 place odometer and it reads 500,000 something miles than that is what it is, only the 5 digit odo's that can only read 99,999 before starting at 0 again can do what you call a " reset"

No, the sun can't change anything in the odo, unless it is digital.
