Easiest way to remove console around shifter??
I just got my new shifter/boot, and i dont have the original manual or a haynes manual. I need to find out how to take the console piece around the shifter out without breaking it... Do the sides have to come off first? or does the panel just snap into place? Ive been searching for an interior breakdown so i can layout the process, but have been unsuccessful thus far. any help is greatly appreciated
thanks cj

undo the shift nob and start closest to the e-brake and pull. There are three different sets of snaps, one at the top, one at the bottom, and one at the arch. Remember just pull.

It is held in by just snap in brackets. When I first started pulling on mine I thought it was gunna break, just give it firm tugs by where it feels like its holding strongest and it pops right out. The area around the stereo obviously will pop out with it.

It's a bitch. Just take your time and be real careful. Mine was already cracked from when someone tried to take it off before. I found the clips near the rear the hardest to get out, especially the one on the passenger side.

I would have to vote for using a reletively large hammer for being the easiest way to remove console around shifter...
I guess, if you want to retain the original part... then maybe i'll need to request a recount.. |

go to www.redlinegoods.com they have a guide for their boots (which i bought, and kick ass)
BTW they tell you to be VERY careful with the washers to get the shifter boot off, but i will reiterate, BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL the little poles are so weak, and the part is 60$ to replace! ... just get under them with a knife and then take some plyers from the top of the washer and pull and twist up slowly... wd40 will help check my site for pictures of my finished install. |
