Missing cylinders 308

Hi, I have a 308 in my '75 Premier, and lately it has been running rough, missing and getting hot etc. I have changed the points to no avail, and am about to change the distributor cap and the rotor. Is it worth going to electronic ignition, and if so what are good brands? Or is there something else I should be checking, is anyone familiar with these engines?
Thanks

Re: Missing cylinders 308

Obviously it's a red motor if it were a blue you'd have no problem with electronic ignition. you say it's getting hot have you checked if there are little bubbles in the radiator? may be a blown head gasket? which would account for the running rough etc.
