92 Roadmaster Fuel Gauge Sender-2 failures?

I recently spent a small fortune on getting the 92 Roadmaster which my daughter uses up to snuff. One of the items repaired was the fuel sender unit-the gauge would indicate full (actually right of full) for about 120 miles then move slowly--at 1/2 it was actually near empty.

The repair worked for about 6 months, and now the same problem is back. Is there a known fix or is this a common failure? Mechanic says 12 month warranty on the sender but could it be simpler than that?

On the other hand the repair to the oil pressure sender is holding up fine.

Hint--we had a rebuilt alternator put in a year ago, and it was just replaced because it had excessive AC ripple and was not charging properly. The mechanics actually put an OE Delco alternator in this time--the charging system seems fine.

Thanks

these fuel pump/senders need to be replaced with a delphi type...many oftermarket units fail in a few months...delphi is the oem type..
