Re: List all cars you've owned.
I'm 38 and my list:
1. 1972 Ford F-100 pickup 2. 1976 Ford E-150 van 3. 1975 Chevrolet Caprice 4. 1976 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 5. 1970 Chevrolet Caprice 6. 1978 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 7. 1974 Ford Country Squire wagon 8. 1978 Chevrolet C-10 pickup 9. 1977 Chevrolet Malibu Classic 10. 1981 Monte Carlo 11. 1964 Chevrolet Bel Air 12. 1981 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 13. 1990 Buick Lesabre 14. 1994 Chevrolet C-1500 pickup 15. 1994 Chrysler LHS 16. 1997 Chevrolet Venture 17. 1973 Ford Torino 18. 1997 Chevrolet Venture 19. 1990 Buick Lesabre I joke about my yard, it looks like I'm Noah collecting 2 of every car before the flood. I bought the first '97 Venture in 1998 used w/ 16000 miles, then 3 years later bought another one to drive for only $4900 w/ 148000 miles on it ( salesman's van.) The Bel Air and Torino are "project cars." and I just bought the second Buick Lesabre on eBay for only $69! The car is in great shape body and interior wise. The engine has 152000 miles and turns over well but doesn't start, ( might be coil problem.) I bought it for parts, but if I can get it running, I might use it to drive. I often get asked, "Just how many cars do you need?" LOL |

I think this list will out-POS anyone elses here . . .
1st - 82 Malibu sedan. blew the damn motor out of it, stupid kid. Ever see a stock car blow up on the track, smoke billowing everywhere? That was me on the highway. Got it when I was 16, had this about four years including engine replacement. 2nd - 80-something Colt (didn't know, didn't care). Learned to drive standard on this thing, cracked up the front end but didn't care. Again, stupid kid. About 6-7 months this lasted me. 3rd - 84 Horizon. Standard again, blew a couple cylinders after about three months. Did I mention I was a stupid, stupid kid? 4th - 79 Pontiac Lemans. This one did me well. Had it about three years, a lot of highway miles. Timing chain went, that was it. 5th - 89 Grand Prix. Loved this car to death, had the most power of anything I owned, plus had a decent stereo. Not sure how long I had this one, but put a lot of repair money into it (not really a mod guy) before some a-hole literally tore the front end off it while it was parked in front of my house. Could see the tracks where he drove and everything. Anyway, that led to . . . 6th - 94 Dodge Shadow. By this time I'm 27 and learning a bit. Still stupid, but not as much. Looking back, I abused the hell out of this car (never plugging in block heater even when 30-below, infrequent oil changes, the usual lazy owner crap) for the first five years I owned it, but never had a lick of trouble, other than a flat tire here and there and a dead battery. But no sooner did a start looking after it better than did everything go wrong at once. Lessseee . . . tranny seal failed, leaking fluid almost as fast as I could put it it, headlight out, aerial fell off, wipers quit, rear signal light failed, stereo died, then when parked on side of road one cold, cold night, got out to take a whiz, shut the door and the window blew out. And this all happened in about a two, three week span around last Christmas. So now . . . 7th - 2001 Sunfire GT. By far the best car I've ever owned, condition-wise, speed-wise, stereo-wise, you name it. I know, it's pretty sad when a Sunfire is gold to you, but hey, it's the best my poor broke ass can afford. Now I just have to hope I'm not so stupid as to blow a cylinder or two out of this thing. |
