'01 SE-r spec-v vs '98 Integra GS-r
Hey....
Wonderin, for a first car that i have about 9k to spend for, which is a more practical car for day-to-day, but maybe some racin on the weekends? Between a Sentra SE-R Spec-V and Integra GS-R. se-r has less horsepower but more torque, and a 6-speed instead of 5. i also hear the 1st gear on the spec-v is really short, like u only get up to 10mph. but i havent driven either one yet. Any thoughts? Personal preference? |

Re: '01 SE-r spec-v vs '98 Integra GS-r
first of all..they never MADE a 2001 Spec V
They made 2002, 2003, and 2004s. The 2002 had a really short 1st and 2nd gears(but not as short as you think) longish 3rd and 4th gears. The 2003, has a better tranny syncros, longer 1st, and 2nd, and shorter 3rd and 4th. If you're into modding the GSR might be a better deal. If you found an 02 Spec V for 9K...then it's got a grinding tranny and is probally burning oil. If you're not into modding however, the Spec V is a MUCH better deal than the GSR. It's got 4 doors, tons of low end torque, which is awsome for city driving, and a HLSD which helps put the power to the ground. But that's comming from a driver from a 2003 spec v |

I've driven a GSR...wasn't all too impressed, although I do like the Type R alot I think the GSR would be better in terms of build quality, aftermarket and reliablity. But I love the low end grunt of the spec, it's fun It's not everyday a 4 banger FWD N/A car can keep up with big V8s in 1st and 2nd gear (although after 3rd gear V8s will just pull away) |

GSR all the way. More comfortable ride. Faster. Easier aftermarket. Plus its a honda, It will last forever. Not to be mean but I dont like Sentra Spec V. Seems like a family car. Integras are better looking too, by far

im sure any engine will be happier with a 6th speed. its gonna be chillin while driving fast.
anyway the SE-R gets my vote. and its a nissan, its made to last. and one more thing, its not in every corner! |

In most 6spds, the gears are closer together (in ratio) than in a five speed... this is a significant advantage, the RPMs drop less after a shift.

Re: '01 SE-r spec-v vs '98 Integra GS-r
i love nissan's, and the sentra is a great car (i remember the first spec-v i saw, but i won't get into that), but it still has four-doors. i don't know if i could get around that. so i would probably go with the gsr.
