Fuel pump access 1990 suburban 40 gallon fuel

FUEL PUMP ACCESS 1990 SUBURBAN 40 GALLON FUEL TANK, RWD
from TOP, HAD BAD GROUND, PICTURES WITH MEASUREMENTS
USED METAL NIBBLER, NO SPARKS, SAVED MY BUT OLD BLUE HAS
0VER 300K, HOPE THIS HELPS

post picture of the metal cover on the access hole ..
I would do the same procedure 40Gallon tank in a 1990 rust belt vehicle that would be a nasty job doing the tank drop ..

the other reason to do it this way is , in today's world fuel pumps are not reliable poor chineseium ...

I cut the hole at four corners , started by locating center of fuel pump, carefully drill a starter hole for the nibbler.it's a body shop tool. from $25 to $100, but no sparks
My measurements are for 1987 to 1990 forty gallon square bodies.
this fix should work just get the hole correct.
The plate just GE silicone a flat piece of metal larger than the hole you cut
If changing the pump be cautious the lines can be nasty
