Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?

I made some real "HEAD" way tonight. I hacked up the original head design and "stole" the exhaust port area and mated it to the new design, as well as constructed the valve covers. The pins you see on the top are the center bolts/coil location pins. The detail on the back side is rather poor, however it wont be seen once the intake is in place. I have decided not to cast this or any of my parts for resale. I will be casting these heads, so that the left is identical to the right. Some details have been left off and will be added after the heads are cast so that their orientation is correct, mainly the spark plug holes and the oil filler neck. The detail on the sides of the block is slim to nil, but again, once it is in place and the mounts and oil lines and details are in place, it wont be noticeable. ENJOY!

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?

Alright. I got back to work on the Transmission last night. Since I wont be progressing much on the engine until I get the heads cast and there are several more things that I want to finish before I go mixing more RTV. I need some comments on t his thing. I went off of measurements I got from a Resin t-56 in 1:25th scale. It looks a little off though. There is not any bracing on it yet. Please, give me some comments and criticism on the trans. I've been considering rebuilding it, but am unsure as of yet.

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?

its finally beginning to look like a transmission. I've got nearly all of the ribbing on and shaped. I re-did the tail housing. It isn't quite finished yet, but it is looking a lot better than the original one that I did. Still not 100% happy with the driver's side of the case, but I got over it. Let me know what you guys think!

Looking killer! You're really made good progress. It's nice to see a project of this scope (and size) actually moving forward.

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?

thanks. I need to start working on the brakes again. Once I have the hubs and hub mounts for the wheels done, I should be pouring some more RTV. Maybe By next thursday I'll have a pair of heads and some disc brakes. I should make some smaller rotors for the rear.....time will tell though. lol I want this to look as realistic as possible, which means smaller rotors in the rear. I'll also have to hack up the chassis plate, reworking the trans tunnel, as well as reworking the rear wheel tubs and complete rear half of the chassis plate will have to be reworked for the 11" wheels and the four link. I'm also planning on adding brass axle tubes. I feel that this will help to support the added weight that the extra parts are going to add, albeit not much, but it will allow for added detail around the ends of the tubes by soldering the pieces in place instead of relying on super-glue. Stay tuned for frequent updates. I've got a lot of ground to cover before I begin Cal III on June 2

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?

Well, here is some more progress. I thought that I had an LS1 timing cover, but I don't. I've got the rear main cover and valley cover. So I had to eyeball it. It still needs the plug for the sensor but other than that I am happy with it. Once all of the pullies, accessories, and the snails are in there, it will no longer be the highlight of the front side of the motor. Also, I managed to get the hats constructed for the rotors. This will be universal for the front and the rear. I think I am going to make some smaller rotors for the rear. 15" is overkill for the front. But they helped to fill out the wheels a little bit. I am going to play around with the axle length today. Maybe I can get that sorted out and then begin on the 4-link rear suspension. enjoy the pictures

Awesome job, tranny looks awesome. Brake rotors look cool too, but studs look a little off.

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?

yeah, I'm not sure what the deal is. I've been trying to figure out how to correct it without making a whole new hat. I spent some time lastnight and today working on the rear end. Re-doing the axle tubes in brass, and working on the 4-link brackets for the rear end.

Re: Pro Touring Camaro of a different ......size?

Here we go. I began the mods to the rear end. I settled on 4 3/4" of offset on the wheels. I wrapped them in THIN .05 styrene cut to the proper width for the rear wheels and played around until I was happy. This then allowed me to mock up the rear wheels and brakes and get a proper measurement for the new axle tubes. They were made from 1/4" Brass Tube. There is a slightly smaller tube inside of that that helped me to keep the outter tubes square with the main housing, and also to help the rear axle support the weight of the car without buckling. Once that was complete I referred to pictures of Scott Gulbranson's 4-link set up and began to work on the 4-link brackets. Originally I was going to cut them from brass sheet and solder it all together. Well that didn't pan out so they got cut from styrene sheet and will be superglued to the axle. The inner bracket is for the upper link and the coil over shocks, the outer bracket is for the upper link. All that is left, as far as the rear end is concerned is the panhard bar bracket, housing ends, and caliper brackets. I am hoping to have it completed sunday and ready for primer. I am just about read to pour some RTV for the little things. Heads, remaining wheel parts and the breaks. The next round of RTV will include intake parts, and the rear brake parts. This is coming along quite nicely. I begin Summer I classes on June the 5th so I am cramming as much work in as possible until then. Enjoy the pics.
