Äudi Quattro Sport 1984 1/24
The Audi Quattro Sport, in Germany named „der Kurze“ (the short one), was Audi’s latest car when first introduced at Tour de Corse Rally 1984. The works team used the car for about one year, parallel tot he old „long“ Quattro, till it was replaced by their S1. In its short career the car was rather unsuccsessful, it could only gain some second places and in many cases they retired because of technical problems. The car shown here is the Quattro of Blomquist / Cederberg in 1984 San Remo Rally.
The model was built on base of Tamiya’s Audi Quattro Rally in 1/24 together with Scale Production’s transkit Audi Quattro Sport. This transkit contains body, radiator grill, dashboard and four rims made of resin plus some white metal parts (roll bar), PE-Parts and clear parts (windows) and a complete decal sheet to build two versions of Walter Röhrl’s car in 1984 Corsica Rally and 1985 Rally Monte Carlo. From Tamiya’s kit you have to use the chassis (which you have to shorten by some millimeter) incl. all undersurface detail like wheel suspension, exhaust pipe etc. and peripheral parts like rear wing, wipers etc. Overall the quality of this transkit is quite good, compared to many other resin kits. But as always there is a lot of work to do to get a good result. Since the resin of the body is too thick in many areas, especially where it should fit onto Tamiya’s chassis, you have to do a lot of grinding work. Same for many openings in the body where you have to place the PE-parts contained in the kit. The tyres provided with the kit are complete unusable. Too small fort he rims in the kit, and too small compared with the tyres of the original car too. So like some other parts they were replaced. I built this car some years ago and meanwhile it was showed several times at model Car Exhibition in Frankfurt / Germany. Some pictures of wip: Hope you enjoy those Pictures. Question to the admins:
Could you please move this thread to "Completed Projects" subforum, where it belongs to? My mistake. Sorry for that. Stefan Last edited by Quijote; 09-24-2018 at 02:36 AM. Reason: Correction |

Great build, cool result. And a pretty neat diorama plate too!
But did such a car really have a street legal license plate?

no, unfortunately I did not Keep those decals. The decals (Rally San Remo start numbers) used for my car I had taken from Reji's kit of Audi Quattro Sport. So when I sold this kit some years ago I gave the decals left from SP's kit as compensation for the missing decals in the (Reji) kit. Regards Stefan |

I might be able to help. I build this car as well but didn't use the decals for MC (printed my own for Rally New Zealand). I'll be away for the weekend to a small modelling-expo near Paris but can check after that. |

Re: Äudi Quattro Sport 1984 1/24
Very nice model and excellent build, looks very realistic. Recently I sold this kit, as I thinned out my stash, too many models, too little time, same old story...
