97 4x4 hardbody wont start but will if jumped
Have a 97 xcab 4x4 4cly, new battery with clean cables. Intermittently the truck wont crank. Has new and good battery but will only start if jumped or push start. Have repositioned cables to battery and checked cable conection at end away from battery, all look good. ????? If it will start when jumped everytime then I am thinking cable terminal maybe, visual inspection of these is all good. Ideas???? thanks you

Re: 97 4x4 hardbody wont start but will if jumped
But why would it jump start every time when hooked up with jumper cables to another car? Wouldn't [ the starter still not work if that was the problem. I was wondering if the inside of the cable terminals at the battery post could have a internal crack and be a open circuit to the battery cables but be a short to the exterior and thus the jumper cables always start it.What do you think?

It does seem connection related. The car-side cable portions are a good place to start. I would look to either readjust the car-side cables if possible or splice in new ends, if that is an option. Hard for me to tell w/o looking at it. But I think you are on the right track with a loose connection somewhere.
