1983 Vandura G3500 loses power-pops and cracks after few minutes driving
1983 GMC Vandura 3500. 350 carbureted engine. This truck has beaten me. It's my business truck and needs to be running to support my income. I have tried various things, assuming fuel starvation of sorts. It runs great for a short period of time, or at low speeds for longer. It will then lose all thrust and popping and "ticking" sound. Doesn't die, just really low on hp and will not climb a hill at this point. Generally I will pull over to the side of the road and shut off only for a minute or so and will run fine again for roughly the same amount of time. I've replaced the fuel filter, and fuel pump, checked all hoses for leaks or kinks. Any ideas or suggestions on this will be greatly appreciated.

How about the filter sock in the tank. Also the filter in the carb inlet.

Haven't tried the tank yet. And to the best of my knowledge there is only one filter and its on the carb

Remove the large nut/fitting on the carb that the fuel line connects to, should be a small paper filter in the inlet.

Re: 1983 Vandura G3500 loses power-pops and cracks after few minutes driving
I had already changed the carb inlet filter. I ended up taking it to the shop and they fixed it. Ended up being the coil and firing issue. Just wanted to reply to this to let anyone else know if they were experiencing the same or similar symptoms. Thanks again for the suggestions though!
