Re: Silverado burnout question
If you have Traction Control, it won't let the tires spin. To turn it off, push the control button on the dash. If "traction" lights up, it's off.

Tire pressure
Not trying to be a jack ass here, but have you made sure that your tires are properly inflated?

Re: Silverado burnout question
My question is this Do you have a lots of money or why dont you like your rear Tires? I thought the point was more traction more traction, dont want to spin when you are racing.

My 04 5.3 does the same thing, it's embarassing. I think it's the torque management. If you nail it from a dead stop it takes off OK, but then at about 15mph or so it really kicks you in the ass and gets moving, I'm thinking that's the TM turning off once the truck is rolling. I wish there was an easy way to disable it other than getting a reprogrammed ECM.
Same thing with mine though, power braking just does not work well at all.

Re: Silverado burnout question
Some had traction control as an option. They all have torque management which is why you get a delayed respone when you slap the throttle down. This is to prevent drivetrain abuse. Basically you floor it, the computers sees it and delivers some power, after a few seconds it realizes that it is still floored so you really need it and it wasn't an accidental thing so it opens the throttle fully.

Dude, I know how to do a burnout. It's my truck that doesn't. Seriously.

Re: Silverado burnout question
My problem is that it does it way too easily!!
In this pic I applied no brakes I was at a dead stop and mashed that skinny pedal to the floor and put down dual 20' strips of smokin rubber!! |

But hey Sparky, don't feel bad about not being able to do burnouts. If it makes you feel any better, my truck tires barely spin out on ice!! (my truck would get out run by a geo metro for sure!)
