Oil pressure gauge 94 silverado

HEy guys,

so I have a 94 Silverado with a 383 stroker in it. ive had it for a couple months now. Runs great, but if I'm crawling in 1st gear, no throttle, no brake, my engine lugs and then ramps up again. the only real thing I'm noticing is the oil pressure gauge has a lot of rise and fall. it only gets up to about 25 or 30, and then it will drop to nothing. my dash keeps flashing "check gauges".

I'm really hoping that I don't have compression problems, which, I don't think I do considering how well the pickup does run. it has GOBS of power.

it has the 4:10 rearend, and vortec heads with roller rocker cams (I don't know if that helps at all)

last month I had it in the shop for some maintenance. it was timed, and the fuel pressure was brought down. before it was running about 40 psi. now its down to 24 psi, but cant go any further with out modifying the throttlebody. The mechanic said that fuel had actually pushed past the rings and got into the oil.

Any suggestions? is this a major problem to get taken care of right away? is it ok to drive? Let me know what you think!

Re: Oil pressure gauge 94 silverado

motor is shot was abused . main bearing worn out . low compression .. what happens is oil pressure low then the crank shaft with all that play reduces piston travel poor power and I would also expect 500miles 1 qt of oil to be added.

these should be 40-60 psi .... 25-40 psi is saying the engine is worn but use able... 20-0 psi .. its done !

if I Replaced the bearing and O-rings could I squeeze some more life out of it? it just barely started doing this two days ago, and I haven't drove it since.

nnnnnnnnnnn
compression test required if normal compression then it could be the oil pump/pump screen mucked up / O ring leak on pump pick up tube

good compression bearings should be good ..

when you open up the engine if required this old , I am sure you will need to replace some other engine components .post back whats up .
