Picked this beauty up today

It´s the Italeri 1/9 MV Agusta F4 "Special Parts". Some of you already know that this is a reboxing of Protars kit. I´ve wanted to buy this kit for some time and today I just could´nt fight the power anymore. It was´nt too expensive, it costed me 320 swedish crownes, thats about 48 US dollars or 35 euro. I read about Sasa´s 1/9 Ducati also made by Italeri and according to him it was a really good kit! That was all the convincing I needed, also as I very much enjoy scratchbuilding, the kit will give me a lot more opportunitys for that since it is quite a lot bigger that 1/12 (see pics). About the quality of the kit, well I´m not very impressed but I´m not disappointed. For example, the brake disc are pre-drilled (saves you hours!!!) and the decals looks crisp. The whole front fork is one big piece which is disappointing and the chrome plated wheels are bright but the surface is not very smooth. Enough talking, here´s the pics and a link, MORE PICS AND HIGHER RESOLUTION AT MY "SITE":

HIGHER RES

The box art;

What a mess;

Comparison;

Some parts I definitly won´t use...

Nice weld-seams on the frame;

Front fork;

Pre-drilled front disc;

Exhaust pipes;

I think someone mentioned that the tires did´nt look too nice in Italeris kits, well I don´t see any problem with these;

And finally a wheel-compare;

I wish I could start this project immediatly but I´m currently working on four projects so I think I´ll wait. When I build it I will do a super-detailed version with a lot of carbon and stuff. Oh I almost forgot, the CF that comes with the kit is absolutley redicolous, I think it might look ok on a 1/2 bike...

Thanks for looking,
/Fredrik

Love that bike...please Tamiya....oh well.

The parts engraving in that kit look a little soft.

I have the kit, havent touched it since the last touch that was my first touch at it. <- what a sentence . I think the fit is horrible, so many parts need hard work before you can glue them properly.

Man I know exactly what you mean by that. I have´nt been able to test the fit of the kit yet but I´m guessing that I´ll have to use A LOT of putty. Ah well, I can always see it as a challenge, some fucking piece of plastic won´t get the best of me!!!

Re: Picked this beauty up today

I did the Protar one and it was a great kit to build, so i think you will enjoy it alot. Here are a couple of pics of mine (the Senna one). Where in Sweden do you live? I live in Umeċ.
Oh and good luck with the chain, if it is the same one as in the Protar kit. That alone should keep you busy for quite some time.

Fan vad snyggt! Did you have to modify it a lot to get it like that? The only thing I don´t like about it is the way-out-of-scale CF decals. About the chain, I´ve looked at it (does´nt look too bad at all) and I most likely will scratchbuild a new one so I guess that also will keep me busy for quite some time. I live in Solna/Stockholm by the way.

Re: Picked this beauty up today

Thanks freak. Always nice to hear such things. It is a very good kit, like i said. And the only one I've done with no problems.
