Upper control arm - lower ball joint

On a level-of-difficulty-scale from 1 to 10. 10 being the most difficult. How difficult is it to change the upper control arm and the lower ball joint?

Re: Upper control arm - lower ball joint

I'm not ignoring you, but don't have the experience to answer either question. When I tried to replace the lower ball joint on a my wife's former 2002 LS I was unable to get on it straight enough to press the old joint out. Since the bad wheel bearing hub was also corroded in to the knuckle, I ended up just ordering a new knuckle with ball joint installed figuring the ball joint would be at least as corroded as the hub.

I never tackled the upper control arm/upper ball joint on her car.

If interested, I can e-mail a PDF of the steps according to the factory service manual for the upper control arm. Since the factory does not consider the ball joints replaceable by themselves, they won't have steps for replacing just them.
