Re: Re: S10 2.2L Cuts off while driving, then won't start
Dude, I tried everything! I used to use the name of vicfett, but forgot my password. At any rate, I feel for you big time! Why? Because I tried absolutely everything. I don't have alot of money, So i couldn't take it to a shop to have it fixed. I was too afraid that they would say it was a million things and charge me for them, when in actuality, It would most likely be something costing about 2 bucks! I tried small things first, Then moved up to more costly things. Of course, I asked a million questions and got the same reply...They all were dead wrong!
If I had a gallon of gas and a match, I would have put it to rest where ever it broke down. I got extremely tired of racking my brains trying to figure out the problem. I checked every wire known to man. I have come to this one conclusion... "It's an electronic problem which may rest anywhere, yet no where to be found or seen. With as many sensors the vehicle has, There are atleast 2 pounds of wire and twice as many connections to check that could be faulty. So, after of pondering about this. I gave up and used it as a trade-in towards my new blazer. The total? $500.00 US dollars. Contacts get worn, dirty and sometimes look as though they are making contact, when in actuality, they're not. Inside the computer, anything can happen. My blazer would have reached 200,000 miles, But because of this bug, she came up 7 miles short. 4.3 liter Motor: Heart Drive Train: Muscle System computer and other electronic sensors and wiring: Nervous System. Nervous system failure. Sorry dude, I really wish that I could help. But I have spent many hours which stretched into weeks reading, buying, searching, cleaning, asking, buying and buying more. All to no avail. Trade her in and move on. I tried everything that message board readers told me to try. Nothing worked. Codes said that everything was ok. I learned to read the codes myself, then I would take the blazer out until it would occur, read the codes, Codes read that everything was fine. The other thing that I never did try was this, Take out every inch of wiring and replace them. Clean every electrical contact on the vehicle. Take out and replace the computer and every sensor. After spending $350.00 on parts, I wasn't about to spend 5 times that, plus quit my job and spend the time to do so. I already almost lost my job because of this problem. I really couldn't take any more risks with my job. I hated to see my old '88 blazer go, But I had no choice. Now I own a '98. For everybody who owns a blazer, After 150,000 miles, be prepared to set some money away. Thats when everything started with mine. On this newer blazer, I will change out all relays about every 15,000 miles. I'm not waiting around until they fail! |

Re: S10 2.2L Cuts off while driving, then won't start
I got the codes scanned and the error code was p0107. Basically it said that i am getting a low input to my MAP sensor. So i replaced the MAP sensor and that still didnt fix it. Im going to try the igition coil next. They are only $20 a peice. It might be wise to replace those anyways with 86000 miles on it?

I'd due a fuel pressure check while it was acting like this.
Sounds like the fuel pump is giving out.

Ah, sorry about that, and spark was verified at the end of every spark plug cable when this was happening?

Re: S10 2.2L Cuts off while driving, then won't start
Yeah it runs fine until it warms up to normal operating temp. It usually dies when i get in the higher rpm's. Runs funny when i accelerate. Scary at traffic lights, we have lots of traffic in memphis.

You said it was completely dying and not starting up from time to time, did you check for spark at those times?

Again, when this dies, get out of the truck and see if the spark is still working.

Yes it has to have spark. When it quits, it starts right back up.

Re: S10 2.2L Cuts off while driving, then won't start
I meant it takes it 20 min for the problem to start. The truck runs fine at first but then after it warms up real good its all downhill from that point on. I was thinking it was the ignition coil packs but usually when those go out you have to wait a while for them to cool down. But mine will start right back up. This is very frustrating!!! Wanna buy a truck?

Re: Re: S10 2.2L Cuts off while driving, then won't start
Check the things that chris15706 said. also sounds possibly electrical.
Try the connection on your battery. possibly ground. One of my buddys chev did the same thing w/ a loose ground cable on his battery. at least give it a shot. |
